Who is Vocalis?
Vocalis is a choral organization based in Guatemala City, with satellite choirs in multiple venues, including the Vocalis Music Center and Vocalis Antigua in Antigua Guatemala. It is dedicated to artistic excellence, community engagement, and accessible music education, bringing together children, youth, and adults in a dynamic and inclusive environment.
Through its ensembles—Vocalis Kids, Vocalis Studio, Vocalis Chorus, Vocalis Antigua, and Vocalis Camerata—Vocalis supports singers at different stages of development, from foundational training to advanced performance. Each group is designed to build vocal technique, musicianship, and artistic identity while fostering a strong sense of community.
Vocalis is recognized for its high artistic standards, thoughtful programming, and meaningful collaborations. Its work extends beyond performance, creating opportunities for cultural exchange and positioning Guatemala within an international choral context.
Since its founding, Vocalis has experienced steady growth, expanding from a single ensemble into a multi-ensemble organization with a presence in Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala. Its trajectory has been marked by consistent artistic development, increasing audience reach, and the establishment of collaborations with local and international partners.
Among its artistic landmarks are the Latin American premieres of "The Sacred Veil" by Eric Whitacre—presented with the visit and consultation of poet Charles Anthony Silvestri—and "El Último Hilo" by Jake Runestad, with text by Guatemalan poet Humberto Ak’abal. Vocalis has also collaborated with Guatemalan artists and guest conductors, including José Azurdia, Fernando Archila, and Magda Angélica. In recognition of its work, Vocalis was awarded Artist of the Year 2022 (Outstanding Achievement in Performance), and its Musical Director, Jeffrey Ortega, received Artist of the Year 2024 (Outstanding Achievement in Choral Music). The launch of the Vocalis Music Center represents a significant step in consolidating its educational and community impact.
Vocalis es una asociación coral con sede en la Ciudad de Guatemala, con ensambles en distintos espacios, incluyendo el Centro de Música Vocalis y Vocalis Antigua en Antigua Guatemala. Está dedicada a la excelencia artística, el compromiso comunitario y el acceso a la educación musical, reuniendo a niños, jóvenes y adultos en un entorno dinámico e inclusivo.
A través de sus ensambles—Vocalis Kids, Vocalis Studio, Vocalis Chorus, Vocalis Antigua y Vocalis Camerata—Vocalis acompaña a cantantes en distintas etapas de formación, desde niveles iniciales hasta experiencias de alto nivel. Cada grupo está diseñado para fortalecer la técnica vocal, la musicalidad y la identidad artística, manteniendo siempre un fuerte sentido de comunidad.

Su trayectoria se ha caracterizado por un desarrollo artístico constante, una mayor proyección ante el público y el establecimiento de colaboraciones con aliados locales e internacionales.
Entre sus hitos artísticos destacan los estrenos latinoamericanos de "The Sacred Veil" de Eric Whitacre—presentado con la visita y asesoría del poeta Charles Anthony Silvestri—y "El Último Hilo" de Jake Runestad, con texto del poeta guatemalteco Humberto Ak’abal. Asimismo, Vocalis ha colaborado con artistas y directores invitados guatemaltecos, como José Azurdia, Fernando Archila y Magda Angélica. En reconocimiento a su trabajo, Vocalis fue galardonado como Artista del Año 2022 (Destacado en Interpretación), y su Director Musical, Jeffrey Ortega, recibió el Artista del Año 2024 (Destacado en Música Coral). La creación del Centro de Música Vocalis representa un paso clave en la consolidación de su impacto educativo y comunitario.
