Welcome to our new Executive Director!

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with our Kantorei family!

We are delighted to welcome Courtney Huffman as our new Executive Director. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter—one that promises continued growth, deeper community connections, and bold artistic vision.

Courtney brings over a decade of leadership experience in the arts, with a strong background in development, marketing, and organizational management. For the past 18 months, she has been an integral part of the Kantorei team, already proving her devotion to our mission and community. Her previous work with organizations such as the Boulder Chamber Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, St. Martin’s Chamber Choir, and most recently the Denver Art Museum, showcases not only her impressive expertise but also her enduring passion for the arts and commitment to meaningful community engagement.

“I’m honored to help lead an organization so deeply rooted in musical excellence and community. Kantorei’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and artistic integrity is inspiring, and I’m excited to be part of its next chapter.”

In her new role, Courtney will work closely with Joel M. Rinsema, who will continue his outstanding leadership as Artistic Director. Since joining Kantorei in 2014, Joel has helped the ensemble thrive—increasing our operating budget by 450%, growing our audiences, and championing new choral works by composers like Jake Runestad, Kim André Arnesen, Eric Whitacre, and Christopher Tin.

Joel’s visionary leadership has also led to two critically acclaimed albums on the Naxos label and earned him the prestigious Louis Botto Award from Chorus America. The Board of Directors has extended his contract through 2030, a strong vote of confidence in his artistic direction and passion for the choral art form.

“Courtney’s leadership will allow me to fully dedicate myself to Kantorei’s artistic mission. Together, we’re poised to strengthen our impact locally, nationally, and internationally.”

With this new dual-leadership model, Kantorei is poised for an even brighter future—bringing more inspiring music, meaningful collaborations, and powerful performances to our community and beyond.

We’re so glad to have you with us on this journey.
